Q is for Questions

Because having type 1 diabetes can lead to so many other health problems, your relationship with your doctor is very important. It's okay to ask lots of questions about how to best take care of yourself. Here's a list of questions to take to your next appointment:
  1. How can diabetes affect the different areas of my body?
  2. What are the best diabetes treatments for me?
  3. When will I start to feel better?
  4. Who can help me learn more about insulin?
  5. What are my target numbers for my blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol?
  6. How can I monitor my condition at home?
  7. What type of information about my condition, should I collect at home, to share with you?
  8. What type of follow-up tests should I take, and how often?
  9. How often should I see you?
  10. If I am not feeling well, what are the signs that it is time to call you,
or go to the emergency room?

  1. All excellent questions we need to be able to ask. Too many people go quiet in the doctor's office and come home unprepared to deal with situations that arise. Your doctor is your best advisor, be open and honest and not afraid to ask!!

  2. And if your doctor won't take time to listen to and answer your questions, you'd best find another doctor.

  3. What I would like to know about diabetes. What the difference between full force diabetes and boarder line.
At time they told my hubby that he was boarder line. His fasting blood sugar is never about 107...Coffee is on

  7. Such good advice, and excellent questions. I never go to the doctor without a list of questions to ask. I don't trust my memory to think of it all when I'm actually sitting in the examining room - too nervous! We have to remember that in a way, the doctor actually *works* for us. And so, we're entitled to all the information we can get. And getting information is all about asking questions.

    GOD BLESS!

  11. The mom says to writes questions down before going to the doctor. And then those questions might help you remember more important questions while you are seeing the doctor. It easy to forgets once you are in the exam room... Mom forgets sometimes to ask questions of my doctor vet too... so we writes questions down before we go.

  13. Very good questions, Denise. :)

I agree about writing down the questions to take with you to the doctor. We're forever forgetting things that we meant to ask. Usually, we forget to take any list with us, too. :/

    Have a blessed day!

  14. I liked all your questions. I think it is so smart to always have your questions written down before you go to see a physician. Hugs for this one!

  15. Good questions. But one of the things that I learned from being a nurse is to keep the list of questions short. The doctors shudder when they walk into a room and see a long list of questions!!
